As the parent of multiple named generational children — there is no point in guessing what people call the generations any more — I was surprised that anyone was surprised about this. More surprised that it took time to figure out why they are doing this, anyone who multi-tasks does this kind of thing. It is just that with the explosion of electronics and constant connection it is now apparent when people do things like this.

Watching anyone with two or three devices on different applications and a conversation going on in the same room should leave you wondering how they get through their day sane rather than why they need “bookmarks” to figure out what is going on with some of their activities.
