Okay $5 trillion is a huge number, let’s compare that to the cost of moving Manhatten or even the cost of flood mitigation for the whole United States. How about the losses for the cumulative disasters in the next thirty years if we don’t do this?

Oh and just for reference the total for 2010 to 2018 for disasters just for the USA that can be directly linked to climate change is over $741 Trillian. So with that number in mind, it seems like $5 trillion per year is a bargain.

So don’t look at the Green New Deal as costing us $5 trillion per year, look at it like insurance so in the future we might not have to pay $92 trillion per year on disaster recovery. To me, that seems like a much better deal.
