PBR and Schlitz were the beers of choice for my grandfathers on both sides of my family. They lived through the depression and always said that those two were the best of the cheap good American beers. Their kids all moved on to craft beers and wine, and I moved on to not drinking due to other issues. But many of my youngest memories were brought back by the photo at the top of the article.
